Caterpillars

We got caterpillars in the mail. They are for a science project. The caterpillars will grow into Painted Lady butterflies. After they have grown into butterflies we will release them. We already received a butterfly habitat in the mail. When we got the habitat, it came with a paper that we send in. Once we send the paper in, they will send the caterpillars to us. My mom waited a little bit to send the paper in, because we did not want to release the butterflies into the snow! Then the butterflies would not make it. The caterpillars like to hang from the lid of the container that they are in. It is fun to watch them move around. They look like they have little spikes on them. But they really don't have spikes on them at all. In the picture,you can see one caterpillar almost at the top. The others are lounging at the bottom of the container. Right now they are all on the side. They are not moving. I can't wait for them to grow into butterflies!
